HERITAGE RESOURCES
This project collected oral histories from 19 Black social workers, who worked with and supported vulnerable children in care, since the 1970s. We have curated this history into teaching and learning resources so that social workers, activists, academics and the lay public can be inspired by this heritage. Our resources include a heritage report, identity playing cards, a timeline of events relevant to black social workers and an oral history guide specific to capturing this heritage.
-
This heritage report describes the why, how and what of the heritage we collected.
-
Use these identity cards to learn more about the impact of individual identity on frontline social work.
-
Do you want to collect further oral histories from Black Social Workers. We have produced this guide to help.
-
This animated video explores children and young people’s complex identity needs. This is an output of a previous research project
